Under Water skies

We fade like chalk upon the
sidewalk......
Rain
more than ocean drops
have filled this place
night
sleeps itself away
the day
it is safe
venture far and wide but
come back to shore before
the trail is washed away
what's sacred cannot be erased
not in your mind
not in your heart
do not be
led astray
listen to your faith
here is where truth exists
where moments of silence
become
echoes of the sound
of what needs to be said

Could I?

I could
write something that rhymes and drags
on & on
I could
babble about myself until tomorrow
I could
mention the lake where I saw that frog
I could
state famous places/people as if I were one
I could
tell you a story of love and rainbows
I could
begin to rant about our economical situation
I could
splash some paint around and say it is art
I could
but that wouldn't be what I needed to do
I always have to face myself later
I guess I couldn't...
